Alliance’s Lagan Valley MLA Trevor Lunn has said the recently completed road improvements at Hillhall Road are a good start to what needs done to improve our roads.
Trevor Lunn said: “The completion of these road works will be welcomed by the thousands of motorists who use this vital route every day. What we need, however, is a fully costed strategic plan for our roads, rather than a piecemeal approach to improvements and repairs.
“There has been a significant level of housebuilding in the Lisburn area, resulting in an increase in the number of cars on our roads. To fully meet the needs of these motorists, and the many thousands of motorists right across Northern Ireland, the Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard needs to ensure spending is strategically planned to avoid continually carrying out expensive repairs. Our road network is a vital component to assist our economic wellbeing, therefore urgent action is required.”
