Hendron condemns Belfast arson attack

Alliance Belfast Councillor Maíre Hendron has condemned the arson attack on a house on Walmer Street near Ormeau Road. Flammable liquid was poured through the letterbox of the house which was then set alight. A woman and her son were in the house at the time but were able to escape without any injuries.

Cllr Maíre Hendron said: “This was a lucky escape for this mother and son to get out without any injuries. It could have been much worse if the fire had blocked their exits before they had been able to get out.

“This fire could have endangered the lives of those living nearby as well, so it just shows the lack of respect for human life that the people behind this fire have.

“I would urge anybody with any information about this arson attack to contact the police.”
