Alliance Bangor West Councillor Connie Egan has condemned those behind a pipebomb thrown at a house in the area in the early hours of this morning.

A woman and child escaped injury after the attack at the house in Killaire Wood Lane around 2.30am. A number of residents were evacuated, with police saying the device was viable.

“This is a built-up area and this incident could have resulted in injury or even worse for residents here,” said Councillor Egan.

“I utterly condemn those behind this utterly reckless act, which saw residents disrupted and evacuated from their homes for a period of time. The culprits are not wanted in this area and need to be taken off the streets to keep people safe.

“I urge anyone with information on this incident to contact police with it immediately.”
