Alliance Councillor Karen Douglas has welcomed a recommendation that Ward Park is not the right location to base the planned new Bangor Central Integrated Primary School.
Speaking after the latest Ards and North Down meeting, Cllr Douglas said that while this scheme was not the best fit, it is essential the Council continues to advocate for the school’s much needed new build.
“While I welcome the decision that Ward Park is not the right location for this project, we must continue to work together, ensuring planned investment in the integrated sector is fully utilised,” she said.
“That’s why I secured confirmation from Ards and North Down Borough Council that we as a body will continue to engage with the Education Authority and the local School to ensure the on-going success of BCIP.
“The search must continue as it is clear Bangor Central Integrated Primary School is in need of new premises, however this can’t be at the expense of a treasured green space enjoyed by many. I look forward to working closely with all involved to find a suitable location, allowing this new build to get underway.”
