Cllr Conrad Dixon said: “I think we are very lucky not to be reading about serious injuries or deaths of police officers or members of the public.
“I can not understand the mentality of somebody who would carry out such a heinous and callous crime. The public does not want violence like this on our streets. It was never right during the Troubles and it will never be right now or in the future.
“If anybody has any information about this attack then I would urge them to contact the police.”
