Stewart Dickson MLA said: “I am pleased that Saturday’s parades took place without major incident. This shows that the violence that we have witnessed in previous years is completely avoidable if all sides respect the rule of law.
“I would like to thank those involved in making sure the different parades and protests took place in a peaceful manner, including all the Police Officers who put themselves at risk.
“I hope that all the other parades and protests this summer will also take place in a peaceful and respectful manner. I would urge the Orange Order and the Unionist parties to re-engage with the Parades Commission and the all-party talks to ensure that we never again have to see the major outbreaks of public disorder that have taken place in previous years.”
