Dickson disappointed by Caterpillar job losses

Alliance East Antrim MLA, Stewart Dickson, has expressed his disappointment at Caterpillar’s announcement that they will be cutting 140 jobs. 65 employees and 75 agency staff will lose their jobs. Caterpillar is based in factories in Larne, Monkstown and West Belfast.

Stewart Dickson MLA said: “I’m disappointed at these job losses in Caterpillar. It remains one of Northern Ireland’s biggest employers, and I am convinced that their commitment to Northern Ireland remains strong.

“My immediate thoughts are with the workers and their families that will be affected by this announcement. I hope that the job losses can be addressed through voluntary redundancy.

“My colleague the Employment and Learning Minister, Stephen Farry, and his officials have already been in contact with Caterpillar’s management. The Department’s redundancy and employment services will be available to the affected workers.”
