Speaking after the PSNI discovered paint had been daubed on the memorial on Kingsmill Road, Mr Dickson said the act of vandalism ‘only inflicted further pain onto the families of the victims’.
He added: “I am absolutely appalled at this disrespectful act of vandalism and it must be condemned.
“The memories of the victims deserve better and this thuggish behaviour will only serve to deepen the pain of their families and loved ones.
“Those responsible must be removed from the streets and I would encourage anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
