Stewart Dickson MLA said: “Everybody agrees as to the huge impact that the FG Wilson job losses will have. It is however important now that we do not further play down the potential of the East Antrim economy, but instead it is time for action to see what can be done to add positively for the local area.
“I welcome the fact that that the Departments for Employment and Learning and Enterprise, Trade and Investment have taken action to put in place proposals to help those who will be made unemployed. It is important that the Executive shows that it can deliver in a joined up approach in providing advice and support to those affected by this development.
“While I know the Department of Enterprise works for the whole of Northern Ireland, I have urged the Minister is specifically target East Antrim in the wake of this development to ensure that there are jobs available for those who will be made redundant.”
