Cllr Laura McNamee said: “The gates were being installed in Bryson Street, when the contractors were threatened and a council worker injured by a large stone.
“Although the gates were vandalized, the damage has now been repaired.
“These gates, like others in the area, are being installed at the request of, and for the benefit of the local community to help cut down on anti-social behaviour. It is terrible to think that our staff, and our contractors, should face this while going about their duties on behalf of the people of Belfast.”
Councillor McNamee appealed for anyone with information on the incidents to contact the police.
