Cochrane encourages traders to become NI’s first Business Improvement Districts

Alliance Chair of the Assembly Group on SMEs, Judith Cochrane MLA has encouraged traders to apply to take part in the Business Improvement District (BID) pilot scheme. Once a BID area has been established, new regulations will allow traders to gain access to extra services following the payment of a levy.

Judith Cochrane MLA said: “I am pleased to see the progress of the Business Improvement District scheme. Traders in Business Improvement Districts will see a number of benefits which should help them grow not only their business but also the local shopping area.

“I would encourage all areas interested in establishing a Business Improvement District to apply to take part in the pilot scheme.

“This new scheme will help town and city centres as they adapt to the changing nature of retail and consumerism in Northern Ireland.”
