Cllr Patrick Clarke said: “The Narrow Water Bridge project will bring a much needed tourism and economic boost the area. Linking County Down with County Louth, the project will encourage greater travel between the two and increase opportunities for trade.
“The North-South dynamic of this project shows how much our society and politics has progressed in recent years and I would like to pay tribute to those involved in this project.
“This project has faced many years of delays, so I hope that work will be able to commence as quickly as possible.
“It could also lead to a boost for the construction sector which has faced a difficult number of years.”
