Alliance MLA Paula Bradshaw has said the PSNI must communicate the facts swiftly, relating to an incident on the Lower Ormeau Road earlier today.
The South Belfast MLA stated: “Clearly this is a hugely difficult day for local people in the area and that needs to be fully recognised. Five families were bereaved on a day which will shock us forever, and my thoughts are with the wider family circles on this anniversary.
“It is important we establish quickly what, if any, offences are alleged to have occurred today, and the PSNI communicate clearly what actions were taken and why.
“We have contacted the Chief Constable to seek reassurances the COVID regulations and the rule of law will be applied with proportionality, consistency but also sensitivity in every situation. It is evident the Policing Board will also need to look at this urgently.”
