Alliance Policing Board member John Blair MLA has condemned those behind an attack on the PSNI which saw 26 officers injured.
The attack took place while police protected contractors removing bonfire material in Distillery Street in West Belfast. Petrol bombs and other missiles were thrown.
“This sort of behaviour is utterly unacceptable and I condemn it. I hope the officers injured make a full recovery,” said Mr Blair.
“It is yet another example of wanton violence and destruction on our streets. The people of the area have been quite clear they do not want these bonfires. I offer the residents my support in their desire to live in peace, and I hope the police are able to review footage to find those responsible for today’s violence.
“I urge anyone with information on this attack to contact police with it immediately.”
