Alliance MLA Kellie Armstrong has welcomed a roll back in the law that will see entertainers and musicians qualify for the Coronavirus Business Support Scheme.

The move came after a legal challenge as taken against a blanket ban on live music in Northern Ireland, leaving all those involved in the industry financially at a loss.

Kellie said: “While it is disappointing it took a legal challenge to reach this result, this is a fantastic result for all those who work in Northern Ireland’s music scene.

“Industries across Northern Ireland are facing difficult times and it is up to the Minister to make sure there is a scheme to represent as many as possible, so we can protect the very heart of our society and come out the other side.

“Music and live entertainment brings so much joy to our lives, I’m grateful this effort will go some way to help the people who entertain us”.
