The Strangford MLA was speaking after the Infrastructure Minister granted a £95,000 improvement scheme at Main Street and Ardview Park, Killinchy.
Kellie Armstrong MLA said: “It is great to finally see some much-needed investment in the roads infrastructure in Strangford. This work will go a long way in ensuring the safety and ease for local road users will increase.
“However, Killinchy is only one small part of a much larger problem – a problem the Minister has to get real about tackling.
“I’m demanding the Minister confirms when the backlog in the maintenance across the Strangford constituency will be addressed.
“After years of failing to invest in our rural communities, the Minister must prove he is committed to strengthening resources for local people.”
