Alliance will continue its strong record in local government by ensuring value for money for ratepayers across Northern Ireland, Party Leader Naomi Long MLA has said.
The party is running 84 candidates across all 11 Councils, with Mrs Long saying it was a chance for voters right across Northern Ireland to demand better from their political representatives.
“Alliance’s record in local government is second to none. In the past Council term alone, we have led on openness and transparency, challenging sectarian carve-ups, promoting good relations, increasing economic development, protecting our environment and making our community safer.
“That’s why Alliance is making a number of pledges in our manifesto, focusing specifically on matters which councils have direct control and influence. This manifesto, which complements our Assembly and Westminster documents, as well as Brexit policy papers, will help us deliver better for everyone by ensuring value for money. With Alliance Councillors, ratepayers can be confident their money and Council resources are being used as efficiently as possible.
“Council is the one tier of Government still delivering for the people of Northern Ireland. Alliance candidates represent the broadest cross-section of society in any local party’s candidates. By electing them on May 2, people can ensure those Councils deliver better.”
