Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “While I welcome this health funding, there are massive concerns in the Western area about the closure of residential care homes.
“The Stormont Executive has agreed to make efficiency savings, but these should come from cutting bureaucracy. I do not want to see efficiency savings reducing the quality of frontline services.
“Northern Ireland currently wastes £1 billion annually on maintaining division in our society. This has to stop. Instead of two primary schools in towns, each one catering for one side of the community, we need to see one integrated school in their place. The duplication of services has to cease, and the Executive must stop this waste and create shared services to save precious public money.”
