An Alliance Party delegation has met with the Newtownabbey Police Command team to relay concerns and issues raised with the party in recent and ongoing neighbourhood constituency surveys. The concerns, focused mainly on Police response times, local Police resources, telephone responses to those reporting crime and anti-social behaviour were brought to local Police Chiefs by Alliance Councillors Lynn Frazer and Billy Webb. The Councillors were joined in the delegation to Police by Alliance Vice-President and local Party activist John Blair.
The Alliance team met with local Area Commander Paula Hillman and Antrim Line (Glengormley) Inspector Martin Ruddy last Wednesday and also raised issues regarding policing which had been brought by local residents to the local office of Party Leader David Ford MLA.
Speaking after the meeting, John Blair said “The meeting gave Alliance representatives a chance to tell the Commander directly of numerous issues raised by local residents. There has now been a useful and frank discussion centred on response times, police resources and the importance of police keeping in touch with and reporting back to those who report crime.”
He added “Just as the Commander has undertaken to look seriously at the issues raised by Alliance, she has also received our assurance that we will encourage other bodies and associations to work constructively and proactively with police in an effort to achieve inter-agency working and actions on anti-social behaviour.”
