Commenting on his planned run, Cllr Muir stated: “Whilst I often run as a member of North Down Athletics Club I rarely seek sponsorship. More than 10 million people in Africa have however been left in need of food, water and emergency healthcare because of one of the worst droughts in 60 years. Hundreds of thousands of people have fled Somalia due to the drought and conflict, with parts of the country now afflicted by famine.
Concluding, Cllr Muir remarked: “With such a disaster occurring I am keen to make a contribution and thus will be running Dublin Half Marathon on 17 September and am seeking sponsorship for the DEC East Africa Crisis Appeal.”
