Alliance Health spokesperson Paula Bradshaw MLA has welcomed clarity Covid-19 vaccinations will be offered to those aged 5-11 across the whole of the UK, but urged clearer information on what the process will be in Northern Ireland.
The announcement follows the latest advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation, with all children in the age group offered two vaccine doses, a third of the strength of the adult version, administered at least 12 weeks apart.
“I welcome the clarity the vaccination programme will be extended to all those aged 5 to 11, with two doses offered at a third of the strength offered to adults,” said Ms Bradshaw.
“However, parents do need clear information about the process and about how to access vaccinations urgently. Many will also want advice on whether they wish to proceed.
“Meanwhile, I would continue to urge adults who have not had their vaccinations to come forward for them. As legal mitigations are lifted, vaccination will become an increasingly important means of limiting the impact of the virus and thus maintaining our freedoms.”
