East Antrim Alliance MLA, Stewart Dickson, has commended today’s announcement that the global online retailer ASOS is to invest £14m in a new tech hub in Belfast.
Mr Dickson said: “Today’s announcement is very welcome, and credit must be given to the hard work and dedication of Invest NI and Department for the Economy for supporting this investment.
“Northern Ireland is well-known for its immense talent, especially in the tech industry, and so it is no surprise that ASOS has recognised what we have to offer and is now set to create up to 184 jobs over the next three years”.
The Hub will be operational in early 2022 with 52 dedicated roles created in the first year across a range of levels and job functions, including engineering and data science. 130 roles will benefit from pre-employment Assured Skills Academy training.
Mr Dickson concluded: “Northern Ireland is now firmly on the tech map with more and more global giants like ASOS recognising our strengths. The opportunities for our workforce and our economy are glowing increasingly bright, and it will be exciting to see what we achieve in the future.
“I wish ASOS the best with their investment, and congratulate all those involved in this project.”
