Alliance Councillor Patricia O’Lynn has expressed her condolences after a young couple lost their lives close to Ballycastle at the weekend.

Ms O’Lynn said she would work to establish if any additional safety measures in the area could prevent this from happening again.

She added: “It was extremely distressing to hear of the loss of two young lives through should difficult circumstances at the weekend. My thoughts are with their family and friends at this terrible time.

“The death of people so young is often particularly hard to process and this double tragedy has left the community shocked and saddened. While the PSNI works to establish their circumstances in this case, I ask everyone to take action to increase vigilance when on the road.

“I would urge anyone with information on these incidents, or who witnessed them, to speak to the police immediately.”
