Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson has given a cautious welcome to the news furlough will be extended until the end of March 2021.

He said: “While this news will give many hope for an easier Christmas period, it is still extremely concerning the growing numbers who continue to be excluded from any financial aid.

“I also welcome the Economy Minister’s answer to my question that she is assessing if any changes to employment law are needed to aid those employers who made people redundant on the belief the furlough scheme was ending.

“For many this continues to be an extremely challenging time. While some will be sighing relief today, for others concern over their financial future continues and we must do all we can to ensure they get the aid they need.”
