Alliance West Belfast representative Donnamarie Higgins has condemned those behind a shooting which left a man dead.

A murder investigation has been opened after the man in his 50s was shot dead at a house in Lenadoon Avenue in the west of the city around 10pm yesterday (Sunday).

“This is a shocking incident, which will be rightly condemned by everyone across the community,” said Ms Higgins.

“My thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones, who have been plunged into grief and despair thanks to the evil actions of people who don’t speak for anyone in West Belfast or further afield. At a time when our emergency services are stretched to breaking point, this will have strained them even further.

“I appeal to anyone with information on this terrible incident to contact police with it immediately.”
