Alliance North Belfast Councillor Nuala McAllister has condemned those behind the armed robbery of a cash-in-transit van in the city.

The report of the incident was received around 7.50am. Academy Street and Exchange Street were closed while enquiries were ongoing.

“I condemn the actions of those who carried out this incident,” said Councillor McAllister.

“It would have undoubtedly been a harrowing event for anybody involved, and do hope those who may be affected by the incident are safe and doing well.

“I urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward and contact the police with it immediately.”
