Alliance Lurgan Councillor Peter Lavery has said an attack on the town’s war memorial is a sickening incident.
Wooden crosses were pulled out of the ground at the Cenotaph, with poppy wreaths ripped off the monument and Sinn Féin election posters dumped at the spot.
“It is absolutely sickening anyone would carry out this utterly mindless act, which achieves nothing except increasing tensions in the local community,” said Councillor Lavery.
“It is particularly low for anyone to attack a memorial, especially one which represents everyone from the local area who fought in the world wars, some of whom paid the ultimate price.
“I urge anyone with information on this attack to contact police with it immediately.”
