Alliance representatives have condemned the kidnapping of a businessman in Co Fermanagh.
Kevin Lunney, a director of Quinn Industrial Holdings, was taken while driving from his work to his home in Kinawley around 6.40pm yesterday (Tuesday). He was beaten, suffering “a broken leg and other very severe but non-life-threatening injuries,” before being left at the side of a road in Co Cavan around 9pm. His car and another vehicle were found on fire near his home after he was attacked.
“I have no doubt this was a traumatic experience for Mr Lunney and my thoughts are with him and his family after this horrific incident,” said Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson.
“This is an attack on all the people of Fermanagh and Cavan, carried out by thugs who offer nothing to our society.”
“This is the latest in a series of incidents targeting staff in the company and I appeal for them to stop,” added Alliance Fermanagh representative Matthew Beaumont.
“Under no circumstances is abducting someone and attacking them acceptable behaviour. I urge anyone with information on this incident to take it to police so those responsible can be taken off our streets immediately.”
