Alliance MLA Kellie Armstrong has taken part in an event designed to develop and encourage women’s leadership in the community and in politics.
Strangford MLA Ms Armstrong, who is Deputy Chair of the Assembly’s Women’s Caucus, visited Dáil Éireann to meet with the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus as part of the Next Chapter project. It involved more than 70 women from across Ireland coming together to build cross-border and cross-community relationships.
“The Next Chapter was created to develop and encourage women’s leadership and growth in the community, organisations, companies, on boards and in politics,” she said.
“During this Good Relations Week it is a pleasure to partner with the Irish Women’s Caucus. I am delighted to see how the programme has had such a positive impact with participants, many of whom will be our future leaders.
“It is vital women participating in this project can see examples of females in senior positons in public and political life. Meeting with TDs in the Dáil helped highlight that, with many having started out as grassroots activists, but now being public representatives and Government Ministers. That is a great example to see.”
