Alliance Councillor Scott Wilson has welcomed a decision by Ards and North Down Council to open its recycling centres on bank holidays.
The decision will see four of the Council’s facilities, including at Balloo and Holywood, open on a number of holidays throughout the year.
“The original decision to close on bank holidays was disappointing but it is good this has now been reversed,” said Councillor Wilson.
“I have been calling on Council to make this change for quite some time and am happy residents will soon be able to benefit by using these council facilities on the days in question.
“Bank Holidays are when many people like to do DIY or gardening, and there is a high demand for recycling and waste disposal. For the centres to be closed on these days just didn’t make any sense.
“I look forward to these changes being put into practice and specific details should be made available to the public soon”
