Alliance Councillor Emmet McDonough Brown has said he hopes to see Ciclovia become a permanent fixture on the City Calendar, as the event is expected to again draw large crowds when it returns to Belfast later this year.
The Councillor for South Belfast – who securing the initial funding allowing the event to take place in 2015 – welcomed the move to again fund the event, adding it proves how popular it has become.
Councillor Emmet McDonough Brown said: “I’m delighted to have championed this event, with participant statistics demonstrating how much the event has grown in such a short space of time.
“From promoting the benefits of cycling and encouraging more people to get involved, to boosting local businesses on the day of the event, Ciclovia really does promote a positive image of Belfast.
“A family friendly event, I’m looking forward to seeing this year’s event being bigger and better than ever and I would encourage as many people as possible to come along and enjoy everything that’s on offer.”
