The Alliance Party’s health spokesperson spoke of her ‘frustration for all involved’ as the on-going political impasse has left victim and survivors without compensation that was promised.
“There are many who thought their fight to see recognition for all they had suffered was over, only for the Executive to collapse and remove the mechanism that would have delivered what was promised through the Hart report.
“Nine months on and the victims and survivors are still waiting and will actioning the recommendations won’t erase the past, they will acknowledge it and go some way towards helping all those affected move forward.
“This has again laid bare the stumbling blocks arising across Northern Ireland due to the lack of a functioning Executive. The DUP and Sinn Fein are hurting real people by their failure to negotiate a way forward through the current impasse. We need a workable Government to ensure these recommendations are followed through at the first opportunity.”
