The victim was bundled into the back of a car and suffered a beating during the incident.
Sorcha Eastwood said: “There can be no excuse for this senseless violence and I must condemn all who were involved.
“My thoughts are with the victim and his family at this time, and with the local people who do not want to see this type of behaviour in the community.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible, ensuring those responsible are removed from our streets.”
