Alliance MLA Kellie Armstrong has said that the Health Minister is failing women by refusing to fund 3 cycles of IVF treatment.
Kellie Armstrong said : “In 2013 the Department of Health endorsed the recommendation from the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Clinical Guideline on Fertility, which recommends that women should be offered three full cycles of IVF treatment. Now, in the 30th anniversary year of the first baby born as a result of IVF in Northern Ireland, Minister O’Neill has told me she will not provide funding for the NICE recommendation. This is denying many the women the opportunity to have a baby and causing great heartache.
“I would urge the Minister, during her last few weeks in office, to review this decision and provide funding for three full cycles of IVF treatment, something that could bring so much love and joy to many couples
