Alliance Justice spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has said there must be an urgent investigation into claims from Dublin lawyer Kieran Conway that he was present when soldiers died during IRA attacks.
Trevor Lunn said: “Kieran Conway has previously admitted he had been a member of the IRA. For him now to claim during a TV interview that he took part in IRA attacks in which soldiers died demands urgent investigations by the PSNI and An Garda Síochána. He also claims to have been involved in bombings and armed robberies, so by his own admission he was obviously very active when the IRA was bringing death and destruction onto our streets.
“By openly making these claims Conway seems to believe he is safe from prosecution. If we are to move ahead and give justice to all victims, Conway must be questioned and prosecuted if there is sufficient evidence. The PSNI should immediately seek a European Arrest Warrant to have Conway extradited to Northern Ireland for questioning.”
