Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson has condemned those behind a hate filled letter circulated in the East Antrim area.
“The letter, under the title Ulster Awake, is an ill informed rant against migrants coming into Northern Ireland. Whoever wrote this offensive letter chooses to ignore the huge benefits brought to Northern Ireland by migrants, through the professional skills they bring as well as the cultural richness we can share and enjoy with them. I offer my full support to those who have chosen to come to Northern Ireland from many other countries.
“The letter blatantly lies by saying there is mass uncontrolled immigration. It lies by suggesting migrants involved in crime operate with impunity. It lies by suggesting Northern Ireland residents lose out to migrants in healthcare, housing and schools provision.
“I will be meeting local police to raise my concerns about this letter and will be asking them if it breaks hate crime laws to bring those responsible before the courts.”
