The boys, aged 13 and 14, were assaulted on the Ardoyne Road on Saturday (May 21). Police, who are treating the incident as a hate crime, said it was carried out by two unknown males.
“I am sickened by this sectarian attack,” said Councillor McAllister.
“There should be no place in our society for such an incident. This was an assault carried out by clearly callous individuals who have no regards for the well-being of others.
“My thoughts are with the teenagers following what must have been an horrific incident. I hope they will be able to make a swift recovery.
“If anybody has any information about this assault, I would urge them to contact the police.”
