The parade, which took place yesterday (Saturday) from the Kilwilkie estate to St Colman’s Cemetery in the town, saw participants dressed in paramilitary uniforms and carrying republican flags.
“It is deeply disturbing to see such a display,” said Mr Dickson.
“While people have a right to parade and commemorate their history, to glorify terrorism in any capacity is wrong. It will have been especially upsetting for those who have been the victims of terrorism to have witnessed this event.
“This parade has shown the pressing need to address the legacy of the past and why it cannot be ignored. It is vital we seek a solution that leaves displays like this in the past where they belong.”
