Alliance MLA Stewart Dickson has said the local community is in shock after the murder of an elderly man in Greenisland.
Eddie Girvan (67), was found dead at a house on the Station Road around 9.30pm on Monday (January 18).
East Antrim MLA Mr Dickson said he was shocked by the death of Mr Girvan, whom he knew well.
“This stretch of road is a quiet residential area and this brutal attack will stun people there. I am very shocked and saddened by this incident, particularly as I knew the deceased well, as did many people in the area.
“This murder will be hard to fathom for the whole community and has sent shockwaves throughout Greenisland. My deepest condolences are with this poor man’s family and friends at this most traumatic of times.
“I would appeal to anyone with information on this sad incident to contact police immediately.”
