O’Neill calls for an end to attacks on memorial to three Scottish soldiers

Alliance North Belfast representative, Jason O’Neill, has condemned those behind an attack on a memorial to three soldiers who were murdered by the IRA on the Ligoniel Road in North Belfast. Paint was thrown on the memorial on Sunday afternoon. It has been attacked over twenty times in recent months.

Jason O’Neill said: “I am appalled that this memorial has been attacked once again. These attacks are causing great hurt to the families of these three soldiers. They should be able to remember their loved ones in peace.

“There can be no justification for these incidents. I would call on those responsible to stop these attacks. They have no respect for the dead and are damaging community relations in the area.

“I hope the Police will be able to catch those responsible, so I would urge anybody with any information to contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers.”
