Lyttle encourages people to take up cycling training ahead of bike hire scheme

Alliance Chair of the Assembly Group on Cycling, Chris Lyttle MLA, has encouraged young people to take up the cycling training that is available ahead of the new public hire bike scheme that is to begin in April. The training is available to anybody aged over 14 years old.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “This is a very exciting time for cycling in Belfast with the new public bike hire scheme due to start in April. This scheme has been immensely popular in places like London and Dublin, and I am sure it will be very successful here.

“I would encourage everybody to avail of the training that is available in the run up to the launch of the bike scheme. As the number of cyclists on our roads increase, it is important that we maintain a high level of road safety for all road users.

“Concerns over safety have been identified as a barrier to taking up cycling, so I hope these training sessions will lead to a rise in confidence and participation levels.”
