Lyttle encourages the public to have their say on cycling strategy

Alliance Chair of the Assembly Group on Cycling, Chris Lyttle MLA, has encouraged the public to take part in a series of public meetings organised by the Department for Regional Development as part of a consultation on the cycle strategy.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “There has been a significant growth in cycling in recent years and a significant increase in awareness of the benefits of cycling to our community.

“There is, however, much more that can be done by the government to support bike ownership, improve safety and infrastructure and enhance mutual respect from all road users, and it is important that we encourage the Minister for Regional Development to deliver on his commitment to lead a cycling revolution.

“As Chair of the Assembly Group on Cycling, I will work with colleagues to ensure that the Executive’s plans are fit for purpose and deliver the best possible outcome for cyclists throughout Northern Ireland.

“I would encourage every member of the public who has an interest in cycling to take part in one of these public meetings to ensure that their voice is heard.”
