Muir shocked by Holywood pipe bomb

Alliance North Down Councillor Andrew Muir has condemned those responsible for a pipe bomb that exploded in Holywood. A woman reported a loud explosion in the Church Green area at 00:35am on Tuesday morning. The remains of a pipe bomb were later discovered. Nobody was injured and no damage was caused.

Cllr Andrew Muir said: “I am shocked that this pipe bomb exploded in a residential area. Somebody could have been seriously injured or worse.

“There can be no justification for this attack. There is no place in our society for those who wish to use fear, intimidation and violence.

“Those responsible for this pipe bomb are very dangerous individuals who must be urgently apprehended by the Police, so I would urge anybody with any information about this attack to contact the Police.”
