The DRD Minister announced the plan on Tuesday and the scheme is set to get underway next week, aiming to improve both the footpath and road.
Councillor Maire Hendron, Group Leader on Belfast City Council, said: “I am delighted to welcome this major resurfacing scheme for Cyprus Avenue.
“I am grateful to the Minister for listening to the residents of the area and recognising the need for this resurfacing scheme. This was a high priority for local residents and I have previously lobbied Roads Service to ensure this much-needed work became a reality.
“Cyprus Avenue is one of the most beautiful avenues in Belfast, but the road surface has been left riddled with potholes and other bumps for too long. I look forward to the work being completed later this year.”
