Cochrane set to ‘Ramp up the Red’ in fight against heart disease

As part
of the British Heart Foundation’s ‘Ramp up the Red’ campaign, on Friday 7th February 2014, Alliance East Belfast MLA, Judith Cochrane, is inviting constituents to her Ballyhackamore constituency office for a red themed fun day to raise awareness and funds for the British Heart Foundation. Over the course of the day, there will be a coffee morning, a competition and an information kiosk where visitors can learn more about the work of the British Heart Foundation in Northern Ireland and beyond. For more information about the campaign, please visit www.rampupthered.org.uk

Coronary Heart disease is Northern Ireland’s single biggest killer, responsible for the deaths of nearly 2,000 people each year locally – that’s five people each day.

Judith Cochrane MLA said: “For over 50 years, British Heart Foundation Northern Ireland has pioneered research that has transformed the lives of those living with heart disease and their families. They have helped to lead the fight against heart disease by supporting over 100 healthcare professionals in local hospitals and communities as well as providing free emergency life support training to over 30,000 people each year.

“The ‘Ramp up the Red’ campaign presents a great opportunity to spread the message about the good work of the British Heart Foundation, to have some fun in the process and raise some funds for a worthy cause. My staff and I will be red-dy to go on Friday, with red wigs, clothes, shoes and anything else we can get out hands on, and I would encourage anyone in the area to stop by for a laugh, a coffee or both!”
