Ford says recent violence emphasises importance of Haass led talks

Alliance Leader David Ford has said that the recent violence has underlined the importance for there to be a positive outcome from the all-party talks to be led by Dr Richard Haass. The talks will look at flags, parades and the past, issues that were not included in OFMDFM’s ‘Together Building a United Community’strategy.

David Ford MLA said: “The violence that we have seen in recent days has emphasised the importance for there to be a positive outcome from these all-party talks to be led by Dr Richard Haass.

“We need to see a real commitment to this process over the coming months, because that gives us a real opportunity to move away from a sense of ‘whataboutery’ this week and into making a real difference.

“A peaceful, prosperous and stable Northern Ireland is totally dependent on us addressing these issues and resolving them this autumn.”
