Councillor Yvonne Boyle and Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick have said the perpetrators must be caught and dealt with by the proper authorities.
A man was shot in the leg and beaten in Coleraine, after four masked men- two believed to be armed – entered his home.
Treated afterwards in hospital, the man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
Councillor Yvonne Boyle said: “I am shocked that an incident of this brutality has taken place in Coleraine.
“Those responsible have no regards for life and must be dealt with before the courts.
“This type of behaviour has no place in our post-conflict society and I would appeal for anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
Councillor Barney Fitzpatrick added: “At a time when the Northern Ireland economy is still struggling, the whole community must work together to show Coleraine at its best, attracting outside investors.
