Dixon says those who attacked police in Craigavon are nothing more than thugs

Alliance Craigavon Councillor Conrad Dixon has said that those who attacked police in Craigavon on Thursday night are nothing more than a bunch of thugs. Police were attacked with paint bombs, fireworks and stones in the Aldervale area while raids were being carried out. A number of ammunition was found by police in the raids.

Cllr Conrad Dixon said: “Those behind this attack are nothing more than a bunch of thugs who are offering nothing to our society. A police officer could have been seriously injured or killed while doing their job in making our streets safer.

“I would like to pay tribute to the police officers who took part in these raids and were able to take ammunition off our streets. In carrying out these raids the police may have effectively saved lives by finding this ammunition.

“If anybody has any information about this attack then I would urge them to contact the police.”
