Billy Webb said: “It is a genuine privilege to have been selected to run in the Assembly elections in North Belfast. I am strongly committed to this area and have campaigned on local issues here for a very long time.
“North Belfast needs an Assembly Member prepared to help everyone, regardless of their background. Alliance is the only party that is truly committed to all aspects of a shared future and I would work to ensure that it is fully implemented.
“Unlike the SDLP that prioritise having a united Ireland, I see social and economic issues as being the priorities for North Belfast constituents. Alliance makes tackling division our top priority and it’s vitally important we end the financial and social hurt caused by segregation in Northern Ireland.
“This election will be fought on the economy and we must work to ensure that the cuts do not cause massive hardship, particularly for the vulnerable in our society. Other parties may also claim to do the same but the UUP is still linked to the Conservatives and they had a joint manifesto in the last election and so backed the Tory cuts. Alliance will work to provide solutions to the problems they are causing”
