Trevor Lunn MLA said: “I note with pleasure the Minister’s decision to attend the Northern Ireland international against the Faroe Islands and I am sure she will enjoy the experience.
“The issue of stadia in Northern Ireland is one which should be re-examined to consider the options for the future. I believe that it would be very positive if the Minister would examine the possibility of a shared stadium for GAA, rugby and football.
“There is excellent work going on as regards the Maze site at present and I would also like to see the site being considered again as a location for a shared stadium.
“The Maze site has massive potential and could be a key economy driver for Northern Ireland.
“It is vital that we build a shared society and the creation of a shared multi-sports stadium would I believe be an important part of this. Having a shared stadium would also send out a very positive message to the world that we are building a shared future here.
“Having one large multi-sports stadium here could also help us attract even more large sporting events and music concerts to Northern Ireland. The Maze site would be an excellent location for a stadium and I call on the Minister, Carál Ní Chuilín, to urgently examine this possibility.”
